So I was supposed to ride on the trainer for an hour this morning and as I started downstairs, I just felt like running. So what did I do? I ignored my plan and went for a run instead. Of course. Leave it to me to ignore my training plan! But you know, I was just motivated this morning.

I started by run and felt great. I usually will hit a mini wall somewhere between mile one and two where I want to quit and pack it in. I know it is coming, so it makes it a little easier to deal with. Of course mental training is very important to any athletic endeavor. I hit that point right at the mid point of 1.5 miles. Today I decided to visualize the last 1.5 miles of my Ironman and see myself crossing the finish line. Man I will tell you what, that really helped motivate me today. I just imagined my friends and family there at the finish chute cheering me on and yelling for me. I visualized what I will do when I cross the finish line (which was a cross between a Texas state flag, the flag of the University of Texas, and a pose of me flexing my hugeness). I will make sure it gets on video because it will be amazing.
