I know, I was supposed to get up early and workout and then head out to hunt pheasant. I just didn’t do it this morning. The alarm went of early and and I snoozed it because I knew I was going to be hunting this morning and I would get a workout without riding the trainer. So I slept in until about 6:30 and then got up to get ready to hunt.

The weather this morning was alright for pheasant hunting. I like it cold when I hunt birds to keep the dog fresh, but I guess everything can’t be perfect every time I hunt. I swung by my friend John’s house to pick up his dog Lady, who would be hunting with myself and Scott, my brother-in-law. We were in the field by 8:30 and ready to hunt.
Lady had a great day. She is a flushing dog, and she did her job well today. She was staying close today, which is the way I prefer she hunts. There was a rooster that kicked up about 40 yards out that I shot but did not hit really hard. He started going down at about 75 yards and she chased after him for a retrieve of about 150 yards. She started to get hot by the end of the hunt, which was about 10:00 a.m. That is actually the reason why I prefer to hunt in cooler weather.
The great news is Marion at Wasatch Wing and Clay was able to get me on the day after Thanksgiving so I can take my buddy Danny and his brothers out. Should be a great day.
The best news of the day is that I think I am ready for my pheasant hunt in Iowa this weekend. I shot really well today with my 12 gauge Silver Pigeon from Beretta. I am really pumped to get out on some birds out there and see what Wes’ dogs can do.
