Nike Thermal Running Tights — A Review

Type: Easy Run
Distance: 5.0 miles
Time: 41:30
Average Pace: 8:18 min/mile
Average Heart Rate: 155 bpm

This run was fantastic. Really — I was feeling it today. I was actually scheduled to run 4.0 miles and felt so good that I just extended a mile. My heart rate was at about 158 bpm for the first couple of minutes and then it settled down like it does when I am in good shape. It came down to 152  bpm and gradually crept back up to 156 bpm over the next four miles. Nothing special about my preparation, but I am sure it was the day off that helped my legs.

The inversion, which holds a ton of smog here in the valley, was bad so I did the miles on the treadmill. I have worn my Nike Element Thermal Men’s Running Tights now several times, so I feel good about reviewing them and their features. They are solid and I love how they have performed, even after several washes.

The Review

These pants are made for both men and women, so you can check them out here. I like to run in colder weather, but once it gets below 40°, for some reason my inner pansy comes out and I have to wear warm clothes, which includes covering up my legs. So for my runs, I put on a pair of tri shorts to prevent chaffing, and I put on my Nike Element Thermal Men’s Running Tights. They are insulted, which makes them that much warmer. They include zippers on the ankles, which I love. The zippers keep the wind out of my pants, which makes me happy.

I am 6’00” and weigh about 190 lbs. right now. I ordered the XL and then might be a little big, but I like how they fit. I wouldn’t order the Large because I think it would be too small. I have washed these pants five or six times now. I use them twice and then wash them because if I waited longer, that would just be nasty. The elastic has held up well and they do not hold an odor at all. I think I paid $75.00 for these tights, and I think they were worth every penny. Of course, they make my chicken legs stick out even more in a crowd, but I have to rock what my momma gave me. At this point in my life, not sure my chicken legs are going to change too much.

Contest Announcement

I will announce a new contest next Monday, so please make sure you check back then. It will last a couple of days, and I think the entry will be the same. The prize, however, will be just as awesome as a Garmin. This is one you are going to want to make sure you are entered for!
